Các từ dạng trung tính (neutral) có thể sử dụng trong bài thi Speaking, nhưng trong bài thi Writing bạn thực sự nên học các từ formal tương đương nếu bạn muốn đạt được điểm cao hơn.

– Các từ viết tắt như don’t không nên sử dụng trong IELTS Writing.
– Các dạng khác như gonna hay dunno không bao giờ sử dụng trong IELTS Writing.
– Các từ formal không nên sử dụng quá nhiều trong bài thi IELTS Speaking, vì chúng làm bài nói của ta mất tự nhiên.
